You probably think that "green" building costs substantially more than a regular house. Think again. We constantly look for new and innovative approaches that add efficiency and keep cost down.

The key is pre-planning. Changing small factors prior to construction means little to no additional cost and can make a large impact on the local environment.

Think of the sun. It's an amazing tool that we rarely appreciate. Positioning a custom home at the proper angle on a mountain property changes how it absorbs sunlight. This can make a huge difference in the energy consumption of your home at a small cost if considered before the building begins.
It's our duty to design custom homes that will last for generations and benefit the surrounding ecosystem. It's easy to sell popularity by "greenwashing" everything, but we were interested in sustainable building before it was ever a fad. Owner Kevin Troyer is a certified green professional of the National Homebuilders Association. We make it our duty to:

• Thoroughly seal every joint and edge with caulk to ensure energy efficiency.
• Buy locally. If the material is high quality and competitively priced, we look for Western North Carolina building products before we look anywhere else.
• Consult with local North Carolina environmental scientists when appropriate.
• Use biodegradable building products.
• Work efficiently with building materials to cut down on waste and extra cost.
• We have recycling set up on our job sites.
• Use state-of-the-art building technologies to produce ecologically sound custom homes for Western North Carolina.
