Chris Curtin

Field Superintendent

Chris CurtinChris’s love for the High Country began in 1992 during a week-long climbing trip in Linville Gorge. He first moved to Boone in 1998 when he started attending classes at Appalachian State University, where he graduated with a Major in Appropriate Technology and a Minor in Outdoor Experiential Education. Chris comes to 4 Forty Four with a diverse background in construction that includes custom houses, commercial projects, rope access structures, and canopy walkways. He is passionate about building sustainable structures that exist in harmony with their natural surroundings. Much of his joy in construction comes from helping to bring a client’s dream to fruition.

Chris met his wife Susan on a custom home build where they did a lot of the interior and exterior finish work together. These days you can find them working together on the weekends pushing hard to complete their own house. When he has some spare free time, Chris enjoys volunteering at Rocky Knob Park doing trail work. Depending on the season, if Chris isn’t operating an excavator or swinging a hammer, you can bet that he is on his Dirt Bike, Mtn. Bike, skis, or surfboard. The Curtin’s life literally revolves around construction and outdoor recreation.
